Pear and Pomegranate Salad With Apple Cider Dressing
Come summers and we are all looking for quick to eat meals which provide hydration as well as nutrition in one go. Salads and cold soups come to the rescue which require almost minimal prep and no cook time.
Pear is a common fruit found throughout the year. While there are the Indian and imported varieties, I am personally fond of this low sugar fruit – the burst of mild sweetness combined with the juicy flavor makes it a on-the-go snack too, especially after a workout or as a mid morning / mood evening snack in place of junk / packaged foods.
Benefits of eating fresh fruit everyday (in place of fruit juice)
- Lower Sugar / glucose levels
- Whole fruits are rich in fibre
- Eating seasonal fruits help improve immunity as nature has intended it to be
- Unprocessed fruits give a sense of satiation compared to processed fruit juices (which have lost fibre, and probably added sugar too - if packaged)
This salad today with fruits came about after my kid came back from school after a long sports practice at school, and wanted to have a quick snack, but no cooked stuff.
I pretty much added all that I had in my refrigerator, and it was a great salad to tuck into. So here goes -

What else can you add to Pear and Pomegranate Salad With Apple Cider Dressing
- Addition / deletion of any of the other stuff here is totally optional – see what works for your family 🙂 The next time on I am sure to add some more nuts to give it an added crunch , protein and texture.
- Toasted seeds (sesame / flax seeds / Pumpkin seeds)
- Personal choice, but I would prefer to skip Apple cider and add a dash of citrus via grape fruit / orange segments / sweet lime (Mosambi)

What you need to make Pear and Pomegranate Salad With Apple Cider Dressing:
Prep time : 5 mins, zero cook, serves : 2 ; Resting time - 15 mins
- 1 Pear (large, cubed without peeling)
- ¼ cup Boiled corn
- 3 tablespoon Red cabbage (shredded fine)
- ¼ cup Pomegranate pearls
- 1 tablespoon Dried figs (chopped)
- 1 teaspoon mint leaves (shredded,opt.)
Dressing :
- ½ tablespoon Apple Cider vinegar
- ⅛ teaspoon Salt
- ⅛ teaspoon Black pepper (freshly crushed)
- ¼ teaspoon oil (opt.)

Method to make Pear and Pomegranate Salad With Apple Cider Dressing:
- Mix all ingredients for the salad and refrigerate for 15 mins minimum.
- Whisk all the ingredients of the dressing and refrigerate too for 15 mins.
- Just before serving, add dressing to the salad, toss well and serve immediately.

Pear Pomegranate Salad with Apple Cider dressing
Equipment
- Bowl
- Knife
Ingredients
- 1 Pear large, cubed without peeling
- ¼ cup Sweet Corn boiled
- 3 tablespoon Red cabbage shredded fine
- ¼ cup Pomegranate pearls
- 1 tablespoon Dried figs chopped
- 1 teaspoon Fresh Mint leaves shredded,opt.
Dressing
- ½ tablespoon Apple Cider vinegar
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- ⅛ teaspoon Whole Black Pepper freshly crushed
- ¼ teaspoon Olive Oil opt.
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients for the salad and refrigerate for 15 mins minimum.
- Whisk all the ingredients of the dressing and refrigerate too for 15 mins.
- Just before serving, add dressing to the salad, toss well and serve immediately.
