While shortlisting for alphabet B, it was to be between Bread Bhel (which am yet to blog - just can’t believe that, and a take on the famous Bhel Puri !! ) and today’s dish - Badam Makha - a delicious street food from Kolkata. Kolkata has its own list of street foods from various kinds of Bori(which is akin to pakoras), luchis, the ubiquitous puchka, Jhal muri, Channa Zor Garam and with the Tibetan , Bangladeshi influence , lots of indo-Chinese recipes as well.

Badam in Hindi is almond. But here it’s something else .

Love these kind of no cook yet filling and delicious snacks. Use of the word Badam is a little misleading but who cares as long as the dish is yummy.

You side tracked all of us just by the name of the dish, Kalyani 🙂 Simple and yet flavorful street food. I now remember that my mom used to tell us that peanuts were known as the badam of the common man in olden days.
