Like most Middle Eastern / Mediterranean influenced cuisine, Qatari cuisine also includes Hummus, Tabbouleh, Baba Ghanoush, Shawarma, Arabic Coffee, Umm Ali, Zatar pie, Mehalabiya etc. Today's dish is a quick and delicious beverage - Qatari Kahwa - thats usually made with, well coffee, and served with dates.

Officially the State of Qatar (Arabic: دولةقطر DawlaṫQatar), is a sovereign Arab country located in Western
Asia, occupying the small Qatar Peninsula on the northeastern
coast of the Arabian
Peninsula. Its sole land border is with Saudi
Arabia to the south, with the rest of its territory surrounded
by the Persian
Gulf. A strait in the Persian Gulf separates Qatar from the
nearby island kingdom of Bahrain.


Qatar was also an early member of OPEC and a founding member of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). It is a member
of the Arab
League.

Ingredients:
Dates - 4 to 6
Hot water - 2 cups (to serve 2)
Honey / molasses - ½ TBSP
Light coffee powder - 2 tsp
Cardamom powder - ½ tsp

In a pot, steep 2 cups of hot water with 2 tsp
of coffee powder. Strain, add cardamom powder, honey and dates (lightly
mashed). Strain again and serve with dates and cookies
