Kariveppalai Sadam (in Tamil, Kariveppalai = curry leaves, Saadam = rice), is a spicy and healthy One pot meal made with a special Curry leaf Spice Powder and cooked rice. Gluten Free and Vegan, this is an easy lunch / dinner recipe!
Curry leaves are the bane and boon of a (South) Indian kitchen. Rich in Iron and Folic acid, it is often added to South Indian dishes, and sometimes fried curry leaves are topped on top of paneer for a fusion twist too. But more often than not, it is simply plucked out of the dish and discarded by fussy kids and adults alike. The slight bitter taste is something one gets used to, but the benefits are many to ignore.
Why not make an Iron-rich One Pot meal using these curry leaves that I promise will get polished off in minutes ,is great to carry for lunch box as it tastes great when cold too!

I always eat the curry leaves that are added to food. However, hubby removes them and wouldn't chew them even if I tell him how healthy they are. When I left home for my travel, I made curry leaf powder with all the fresh curry leaves I had. Now I have your delicious and healthy curry leaf spiced rice recipe whereby I can use the curry leaf powder.
Kalyani says
that sounds like a plan,Mayuri. you can also use this podi with idli/dosa/uttapam or even sprinkle on poha for a different twist
